Bring us the engine problem and we will tell you what is actually wrong with it before anything is taken apart further than it needs to be. We work on cars and vans of any make, and the van engines we see most often are the Sprinter, Master, Movano and NV400.

Knocking, ticking and rattling that changes with the revs. A rattle on start-up that settles after a few seconds tells us something different from a knock that gets louder as the engine warms, so we listen to it running before quoting any work.
Loss of power and heavy smoke. Turbos, injectors, blocked breathers and worn valve gear all show up as the same complaint — it will not pull. We read the live data first and follow it to the part that is causing it.
Overheating and coolant loss. Head gaskets, water pumps, thermostats, fans and blocked coolers. A pressure test tells us whether the coolant is leaving the engine or going into it.
Timing and cylinder head work: chains, tensioners, guides, valve seals and head skimming or replacement.
When a repair is no longer worth doing
Sometimes the honest answer is that the engine has had enough, and the sensible fix is a different engine rather than a long list of parts fitted to a tired one. Because we hold used van engines on our own shelves, we can compare the two properly for you: the cost of putting yours right against fitting a good used engine with a 12-month warranty.
If a part we sell turns out to be faulty, we replace it. You are welcome to take an engine away and fit it elsewhere, or leave the vehicle with us and we will do the work here.
How long it takes
Diagnosis is usually the same day the vehicle arrives. Timing and head work generally means the vehicle stays with us for a few days; an engine change is longer again, and we will tell you the expected days before you commit to anything.
We are open until 8pm Monday to Friday and until 6pm on Saturday, so a van can be dropped off or picked up outside working hours.
