Used van gearboxesManual and automatic
A gearbox is the part people most often get wrong when buying used, because two vans that look identical can have completely different boxes underneath. Send us the registration and that guesswork disappears.

Manual and automatic are not interchangeable
The two are different parts with different bellhousings, different mountings and different control systems, and an automatic brings its own cooler and electronics with it. A van converted from one to the other is a much bigger job than buying the right box in the first place.
Gear count matters too: five and six-speed boxes were both fitted across these vans, and the ratios differ between a short-wheelbase van and a heavy long-wheelbase one on the same badge.
The registration identifies the box
From the registration we get the engine, the year, the body length and the weight rating — and those four together tell us which gearbox left the factory in your van. That is faster and far more reliable than a description over the phone, because the box code is stamped where you cannot see it without going underneath.
If a part we sell turns out to be faulty, we replace it.
It is heavy and awkward, and that changes the practical answer
A van gearbox is not a boot-load. It needs lifting equipment at both ends of the journey and it comes with oil in it. That is why having the option to fit it here matters more on this category than on almost any other: the box never has to leave the building.
You can still collect it from Kettering if you have the gear to handle it — most of our trade customers do — and collection is normally the same day we confirm we have it. With four to six donor vans in at a time, stock moves, so it is worth asking now rather than assuming.
